Hi, I’m June and I live deep in the Lithuanian countryside, surround by fields, forests and an abundance of wildlife. I have many hobbies and interests, but my consuming passions are are food, photography and sharing stories. I grow my own fruit and vegetables and try to prepare all my food from scratch using local ingredients. I take lots of photos of Lithuanian wildlife and wildflowers – despite having lived here for seven years, there is always something new to be seen! I also love to share stories about my life and travels, and have published two books inspired by my life here in Lithuania. I hope you enjoy my content!
I love to chat, so feel free to leave a comment below, or contact me here.
My Books
My Food Odyssey – 9 of my favourite traditional Lithuanian dishes:
My original blog, My Food Odyssey, began as a diary of my voyage around Europe in a camper van, exploring foods from different countries. That journey ended here in Lithuania, where I started to write about Lithuanian food, and eventually published a short cookbook and memoir which includes detailed recipes for nine of the most popular Lithuanian dishes – cepelinai (potato dumplings), kugelis (potato pudding), šaltibarščiai (cold beet soup), balandėliai (stuffed cabbage rolls), koldūnai (meat dumplings), rauginti kopūstai (sauerkraut), rauginti agurkai (half-sour pickles), varškės spurgos (curd cheese doughnuts) and kūčiukai (Christmas Eve biscuits). Each recipe is explained in great detail and is accompanied by stories from my kitchen. The book also includes a selection of photos from the Lithuanian countryside. [Buy]
Guardian of Giria:
Guardian of Giria is an animal fantasy novel for older children (9-15), inspired by Lithuanian wildlife. Felix, a powerful wild boar and undisputed master of Giria Wood, discovers that two huge wolves have moved into his forest. He realises the residents of Giria Wood are now in great danger and immediately devises a plan to guard the animals and eliminate the wolves. What follows is an exciting adventure as the animals band together to protect and defend against this new threat. The plot involves a varied cast of characters, including a group of misfit pre-adult boars, a family of foxes, a family of beavers, a knowledgeable raven and an assembled group of magnificent red stags who would really rather be preening themselves for the annual rut than dealing with wolves.
